Brief Description:  Installed Elevators and trimmed HS outboard ends.

We temporarily installed the Elevators onto the HS. This was a bit finicky. We used an Alan key to align the hinge to rod end bearing holes then slid the bolts in with a hemostat while jiggling the Elevator slightly. The counterweight skins were a bit long so we marked and trimmed the HS skin by about an inch to allow for proper clearance. Preliminary checks showed smooth and full control surface deflection. We did notice that the control horns were not perfectly aligned when the Elevators were clamped in trail. The difference was about 1/4". The problem is with the quality control of the WD-605-1 weldments. They were not fabricated with the same angle. I did some research on the forums and found that this is not uncommon. The fact they don't align perfectly will not change the geometry of the control horn functionality. The critical thing is to drill an accurate bolt hole that will maintain a constant line along the entire hinge line. Next up is to remove one of the Elevators and use the drill bushing I fabricated earlier to drill a pilot hole in an Elevator horn.
