Brief Description: Drilled the lightening holes in the VS doubler
Started with the VS becuase I am still waiting on some parts from Vans to continue with the HS.The process of drilling 7 lightening holes in the VS doubler shouldn't have taken me 5 hours, but with all the measuring and drill press setups that's how long it took. At this rate I will get my first flight done at about the same time Van's is introducing the RV-28.I used an adjustable cutter for the first two holes near the bottom of the doubler. I strayed from the plans slightly on the second from the bottom hole. Instead of a 2 inch hole as depicted I made this one slightly smaller at 1.75". The rest where as suggested on DWG-6.I secured the doubler to my wood block with a few small screws to ensure it remained still as I drilled. I took my time and stopped drilling several times as I went a long to clean away chips and add drilling lubricant. All holes came out to my satisfaction.
