I tried my hand at tube bending today. I have the Imperial 470-FH bender and I started by experimenting with some 1/4" aluminium tubing. Once I was comfortable with the basic operation I mocked up the shape of the he vent line on the right had side with some hanger wire. I messed up the first one and ended up short on the end that is supposed to protrude out the bottom of the airplane. The second attempt was better but still not that great. I tried the left side and it was acceptable. I plan on replacing the right side line because I think I can get it better. I used a bit of Vaseline on the part of the bending tool that moves along the tube which yielded nice bends without kinks.
