Brief Description: Transforming of skids to polished alumin
Instead of painting the skids, I decided to polish them and bring out the chrome look. This took longer than expected because this is the first time that I had worked with aluminium. The first picture is what the skids looked like before sanding. I started with 400grit sandpaper, then went over with 800grit sand paper (2nd picture). I wet sanded the skids using 1000grit and then 3000grit sandpaper (3rd picture).
Next I used rubbing compund (Turtle Wax) to bring out the mirror finish. Last I used a metal polish and sealant to get the final look that I wanted
