Brief Description:  Complied with left Tank SD

Since I haven't got the needed help this weekend to install the right tank ribs, I figured I would use the time to comply with the tenk SD. Reviewed the instructions provided by Van and decided that I would not remove all of the flop tube fittings. I opened the inspection plate which was more difficult than I imagined. the proseal and cork gasket were on extremely tight. Used a puddy knife and was able to cut through the cork gasket without buggering the rib. Once the cover was removed, I was able to reach into the inboard bay and remove the flop tube. I did remember to use a sharpie to mark the nut so I would know which corner of the nut to drill the hole. Removed the flop tube and took it apart to completely retighten all connections. Also used fuel lube on the connections. Used a punch to bend the end of the nut attaching the brass weight. torqued all fittings to 120 in pounds. Drilled the safety wire hole in the forward fitting nut. I decided to install the safety wire a little different since it was a bear to get my hand into the bay. Attached the wire to the 90 degree fitting with intent to run the safety wire through the hole in the fitting nut ans twist it tight from there. Before reinstalling the flop tube, I cleaned the coverplate and inboard rib. MEK works great to remove the proseal ! Wiped out the inboard bay and reinstalled the flop tube. Used a Crows footand 8 in extension to torque the nut to 120 in pounds. Worked the safety wire throught the hole and gave it a good twist. too tight to make a pig tail sp I wrapped the wire up and around the nut. Looks good ...see below. Will close the tank tomorrow.
