Finished riveting the rear spar components together. See image 1, backside, and image 2, frontside, of rear spar. I drilled out one rivet because it clinched, and another one that I mistakenly put in a rib hole, but other than that things went well. I used the pneumatic squeezer for this. Then I started riveting the VS skeleton together. Orndorff says to leave the bottom rib sections until later so that the middle rib can be riveted to the rear spar with plain 470 rivets instead of the pop rivets called for in the plans. But the angle of the bottom ribs to the front spar makes setting those rivets a real chore, so I went ahead and set those them now. As it was I had to do one of them over because it clinched. If I was better with the rivet gun and the squeezer (had more experience) it might have been worth trying. I am also not happy with the 2 rivets that hold the top rib to the spar. I'm thinking about drilling those out also. See image 3 for how things looked at the end of this session.
