Brief Description:  VS

I finished riveting the skin to the front VS spar and the middle rib. I need to have an inspection done on the work so I can cleco the rear spar to the VS and close out the VS. I think I'm starting to get a feel for what a properly set rivet looks like without having to use the guage. I'm also getting a better feel for the rivet gun and bucking bar. Lin helped me with about 15 rivets that were a stretch for me to do by myself because my arms aren't quite long enough. She bucked and we are starting to get faster. Image 1 is a shot of the inside of the VS between the middle rib and the root rib. You can see areas where I let the bucking bar (covered with tape) rest on the spar while shooting rivets. It scuffed the primer a bit, but made bucking by myself much easier, since I only had to control the bar in 2 dimensions instead of 3. Image 2 is a shot of the top VS bay between the middle rib and the top rib. Same scuffing as on the bottom, but there are a couple places where I scratched the metal on the spar. That was for the first 2 or 3 rivets I shot, and hadn't figured out that I needed some padding on the bucking bar. Image 3 is an overall shot of the right side of the VS in its current state.
