Brief Description:  Rivet nose ribs, main ribs, mock up assy.

Rivet nose ribs on left and right HS. Rivet main ribs to front spar. Mock up the entire assembly, coleco spar and ribs together, coleco skin to ribs. I hope the may be the last time this gets assembled.

Twelve hours or so of time, some sleep, and allowing the subconscious to continue to work the problem, I came up with a solution. First I needed to get the bucking bar more directly onto the working end of the rivet. I ground down the best fitting bar I had on the sander and flat plated the surfaces so I now had three smooth and square surfaces to work with. A side for each position within the skin. Next I shimmed the skin in the fixture to slightly bow the assembly upward. This made the skin lie flat against the rib and prevented the bowing that was causing the trouble earlier.
I drilled out each rivet installed incorrectly from the night before, one at a time. I set everything up and shot the first perfect rivet right in the very nose of the leading edge. I flipped it all over and did the one on the other side, perfect. I continued the replace all the previous rivets. I squeezed the rivets on the ends so they were no problem at all. Now on to the left skin. I shot ten rivets using the new system and got ten perfect results. What a day!

I mocked up the entire HS on the floor. Colecoed the skin together. It actually looks like part of an airplane. I think I will shoot the rivets right where it is.
