Brief Description:  Push rod assy

Made the long pushrod. Did it the same way as the short one. Drilled a hole in the workbench and measured very carefully the distance. Drilled another hole and mounted everything together. This way I could get the tube to evenly center between the two ends. It came out great. As you can see this piece got green primer instead of grey. I had just a little grey left and I didn't think it would do it all so I used the green.

I set up the bellcrank and reamed the bushing. Funny story here. I got the bellcranks out, left and right. Tried to mock the right one to the wing. The plans show the left wing and I have been reversing it all in my head for the right side. But I just couldn't get it straight how the piece was to fit in. So I decieded to mock the left one up to the plans and maybe that would help me get it straight in my head. Well, I couldn't get the left side to work out right either. After realizing that Vans reverse labled the parts everything started to look like the plans. It was a real 'Ah-Ha' moment.

Made all the little hardware spacers and mounted the aileron to the wing. I put the alignment tool on and measured the aileron distance. The best I can tell I'm within .040 of perfect trail with the push rods just the way they are. If any adjustments are needed I will find out and adjust later. I can see now that the precision of building the short pushrod is very important. A very small change in dimention would translate to a large change at the end of the aileron.
