Brief Description:  Square wings, ck triangulation, angle of incidence

Check the wings. Check triangulation. Check angle of incidence.

Paul Branson and I stayed after the CAP meeting and checked the wings. First we ran a tape from the wing tip to the center of the fuselage at the tail. Each measurement was within 1/8" of each other. So far so good. Then we plumbed the leading edge along the outside end and the inside end next to the fuselage. After marking the points we shot a laser from the outside points and both inside points were within 1/4" of straight. The wings seem to have 1/4" forward sweep. Then we checked the angle of incidence. As measured along the wing the readings were between 0.0 to positive 0.3 degrees. Pretty good considering all we did was install the wings and tighten the bolts.

We played around with moving the wings to see what kind of changes we could make and all in all we could not make much difference in the measurements. I considered filing on the spars to try and get better numbers but in the end we decided what was there should be close enough. I'll call Vans to see what tolerance is allowed.
