Brief Description:

Before I take the gear off and lower the fuselage to the cradles, I want to mount the nose gear wheel pant. It's really a pretty straightforward process, which I began today. First I cut out a three inch hole in the top of the pant, then drilled mounting holes to mount the pant to the bracket. Then I riveted nutplates to the mounting bracket. I used #10 nutplates rather than the #8 specified. I just prefer the slightly larger diameter screws for mounting fiberglass parts. Next was sizing spacers for installation between the fork and the pant. Those will be about 1/2 inch thick, made from phenolic. Ended the evening making the stock for these spacers from pieces of 1/4 inch phenolic bonded together with thin epoxy/flox.
