Brief Description:

Pretty well satisfied with the fuselage fit, today I fabricated the vertical component of the hatrack. For this, I made a luan template. This takes a while, naturally. Once I get the basic measurements, and the general shape cut out, I make marks around the perimeter of the portion that has to be fitted to the oblong part of the upper fuselage, about every inch and a half, and number them. Then, as I sand a little at a time on my bench sander, and check the fit over an over again, I can visualize the interference points in relation to the numbered lines. That way I know where to sand. This is a long process for a complex shape such as this, and requires multiple fittings, sandings, fittings, sanding, etc. Patience is required, but the result is good. After that, it was easy to use the template to cut out a piece of the last bit of pre-preg that I have left. I decided to use the manufactured product for this piece, as it does form what appears to be a structural part of the plane, when screwed to the later to be built flange. I ended the day potting in the new piece and applyling three bid to the inside joint.
