Brief Description:

These last few days have been a bit frustrating, but that's nothing new. My current project is fitting the main gear wheel pants and fairings. There are a lot of moving parts here, with not a whole lot of guidance from the manual. Securing the pants to the axle is not difficult, so that's one point of attachment. Aligning the pants is not too difficult, but the method specified for fitting the pants to the fore and aft brackets seems a bit dicey. It involves making a flox pad, up to about an inch thick, on an interior vertical surface, and forming it with the brackets. Ok.

Next big issue is fitting the leg fairings to the leg, and at the same time to the fuselage fairing and wheel pant. Manual says to fit the leg fairings inside the pants and fairing. That really doesn't work. I'm thinking about making mating plugs so that I can end up with an even, small gap. I'll have to think more on that.

In preparation for all this, I've got just about everything done on the pants themselves, including the area washer bonded in, and now the optional bulkhead inside the rear of the pants, to prevent debris from becomming impacted in the wheel pants.
