Brief Description:

It's been quite a time since I've logged time, but with the exception of a trip to Sun 'N Fun, I actually have been steady at my work on the plane. My trip to Florida educated my regarding the flap trailing edge desired profile. Brad Simmons advised me to get that edge to about .125, with a bit of a radius, for paint adherence. The better looking Lancairs at the show conform to that ideal, so upon my return, my job was to prep the flaps for primer, with the trailing edge ideal in mind. For one flap, that was not too hard. But for the other, I remembered that I had to trim it after completion to match the trailing edge of the adjacent aileron. Well, that's fine, except it left a trailing edge of about 3/16 inch. That's too much just to sand down. So to make a long story short, I've spent a large number of hours splitting the trailing edge of that flap and re-profiling to allow a reasonable taper to the desired profile. Tonight I pretty much finished the trailing edge issue, and have made the top surface of both flaps pretty much dead flat. This week I'll complete the preparation of the flaps and hopefully get a coat of primer on.
