Brief Description:

Today I mounted the new left upper aileron skin to the cradle, then trial fitted the lower aileron skin. These are new skins, which have built in cavities for hinge bolt access. The manual, being written before this apparently new design, is silent on how to construct this new aileron, as apparently the fast build wing kits come with the aileron assembled, so builders don't need to know how to work with the new design. That is, of course, if you don't need to replace an aileron. Sigh. Also, the trial fit of the lower skin showed that the overall thickness of the aileron at its outboard end is too narrow, leaving about a 1/4 inch gap between the aileron and the wing skin. This is a problem. I think I'm going to have to cut off the counterweight tab on the lower aileron skin, add to the aileron leading edge and re-attach the tab. I'll have to figure this one out.
