Brief Description:

Well, tomorrow's the day set for closing the left wing. Big day, no doubt. To prepare, today I patched the tank lining where I had to repair a corner. Then I spent some time cleaning up the shop, arranging tools and supplies for, hopefully, seven or eight friends tomorrow. I also made spreaders with a curve in the blade for achieving a uniform mound of Hysol or flox in the middles of the spars and ribs.
After all that, Cathy helped me fill 49 sand bags that I made last week. Each bag, it turns out, weighs about 17 pounds, on average. So I've got over 700 pounds of sand bags, over 400 pounds of lead shot bags, a couple of hundred pounds of barbell weights, and 150 pounds of bricks. No way will I need all that, because the lower skin does fit pretty well. But I don't want to get the expoxy spread and not have enough weight to do the job.
Finally today I marked the locations of the spars and capstrips on both sides of the lower skin, and scuffed the inside of the lower skin in preparation for epoxy. Then placed the skin in position, weighed it down, and drilled holes along the leading edge joggle to accept sheet metal screws for clamping.
