Brief Description:

The last couple of days have been snow days in Atlanta. So I've had some time to make what turns out to be real progress. I've spent time prepping the capstrips and spars for closing, and prepping the fuel bays for sealer. I also began the completion of the aileron leading edge, adding 3 bid where necessary, and placing micro.

By far the best part of the last two days was late this afternoon. I've been worried about the clearance between the lower skin and the capstrips and spars. The potential problem, of course, is too much of a gap, which would compromise the adhesive bond. So I decided to test the final clearance with Play-Doh, certainly not my original idea. To my great suprise and delight, the Play-Doh blobs, after clamping and weighing down the lower skin, compressed into almost perfect circles, with final thicknesses of 3-5 thousands of an inch. What a great sight when I lifted the lower skin to reveal the results. Now I've got a lot more confidence as I approach the wing closing, which is approaching rapidly.
