Brief Description:

So now I'm making some progress, although I still hate inspection panels. The fix for the bellcrank inspection panel is to use the full thickness of the wing cut-out for the cover. That means filling the perimeters of the cover and the hole with micro/flox to allow the panel to be screwed to the nutplates which will be attached to the capstrips.

This whole problem was solved with the introduction of the fast-build wing kits, which apparently were built with a full length spar, and eliminated the BL 139 forward rib. This allowed the bellcrank inspection hole to be any width desired. With my slow build kit, the max width of this hole, between the two ribs, will be a bit over three inches. Tight, no doubt, but sufficient.

After cutting out the skin, I removed core from the skin, added micro/flox, and weighted the skin to the capstrips, so that when cured, the skin will conform. Tomorrow I'll fill the margins of the cover and likewise weigh it down in the hole and onto the capstrips while the fill cures, so that the cover will fit as well.
