Brief Description:

Sometimes it seems like the smallest projects take the longest time. This past weekend I finalized the fitting of the aileron trim tab and servo. Next I had to construct a fairing for the trim tab actuator arm, surely not too much work. The first fairing I made last year was for the elevator trim tab, and for that I used clay to make a form. This time I decided that a wooden form would be better, and easier to form. To make a long story less long, I ended up making two complete forms and two complete fairings before I was satisfied. To make things go a bit quicker, I baked the layups in the toaster oven at 200 degrees for an hour or so, which worked great, saving the usual overnight curing time. Tonight I trimmed and potted in the best of the two fairings. After cure, I'll reinforce it in with some 2 bid, then fill with micro and call it done.
