Brief Description:

Yesterday and today I prepped for and completed my first set of capstrips on the left wing. This involved stripping off the old six ply duct tape, and putting on new three ply and packing release tape. I just did the outboard ribs and spars, as I knew that doing that many capstrips would be about all I could do in one session. Tonight my wife Cathy and I tackled the task of laying up and applying the two bid capstrips to the taped locations of the ribs and spars. We rehearsed the flipping of the lower wing, and that went pretty well, with no need for shifting after lowering the capstrip laden lower skin onto the waiting ribs. I noticed one problem area near the BL 202.5 leading edge, but will wait until all cures before attempting any remedy.

I began this effort on the outbboard ribs, rather than the fuel bay ribs. By the time I get there, my capstrip skills should be up to the task.
