I'm not sure why it took me so long to reinforce these two ribs, but it sure did. I didn't time it, but I believe that it took a long time to prep the joints for bonding. As with painting, preparation is a major part of the job, so I'm trying to be thorough.
I did measure the effectiveness of the peel ply, which, by the way, is a real pain to remove. On approximately three feet of peel ply, the epoxy absorbed amounted to .05 ounces. Not much at all. Today I compared the peel ply to the suggested paper towel method, and found that a comparable amount of paper towel strips absorbed .15 ounces, about three times more than peel ply. That's a real rough expirement, and would have to be duplicated to verify. But I've decided to forego the peel ply on interior surfaces, and just use paper towels.
Anyway, tonight I reinforced the BL 75 nose rib, which is the mounting rib for the aileron idler. Also reinforced the BL 54.5 middle rib.
