These last few days have been busy with holiday duties, but I did get seven approaches in yesterday with my friend Steve Ashby (an RV-8A bulider) as safety pilot. There's a good reason the FAA requires current experience, as skills do erode and need refreshing.
I have been able to fit several ribs over the last three days, eight in all. That doesn't seem like many, out of the total of 23 ribs, but there is a learning curve, and it is getting a bit easier. The manual doesn't say so, but I don't see how final fitting really can be done except one at a time, and before bonding to the upper skin. If anyone's got a better idea, I'm quite open to suggestions. I'm leaving a bit of space for a micro release later, as with the elevators. That should give a very precise fit.
