Today I attached most of the gap filler to the trim tab with clecoes, then spent quite a while adjusting the fit. To ensure free movement of the tab and a sufficient gap to allow for clearance and some micro for surface filling, I used a combination of sanding and heat forming on both the tab and the elevator trailing edge. I finally did get it the way I want it, with about a 1/8 inch gap throughout the range of travel. After filling the surface, the gap will be just right.
