Yesterday's experiment with creating an extension of the trim tab lower skin seems to work pretty well. The sample I created is shown in image one below. I cut off about an inch of this piece, and after trimming to fit, attached it alternately to the extreme inboard and outboard margin of the trim tab lower skin, then operated the tab through its range of travel. It worked pretty well as intended, so I went ahead and made up a full size mold with a one inch copper pipe and one inch thick, as shown in image two. I filled the gap between the pipe and the board with clay, then covered all mold surfaces with release tape. Then I laid a full length 2 bid layup on the mold.

While waiting for the above to cure, I made the mold for the fairing to cover the trim tab actuating mechanism. The clay mold is shown in image three. That mold is now covered in 2 bid, and curing for tomorrow.
