Brief Description:

Seems like a simple operation like attaching a hinge would take just a bit of time, but no. I had to fine tune the hstab skin, to ensure the trim tab would align at the trailing edge, then decide on screw selection and spacing, then go about starting the process. I finally decided to use # 8 flat head, countersunk machine screws, spaced two inches apart. Because of the placement of the trim tab actuating arm, I started the screw placement on either side of the arm, so that there would be no odd spacing in the middle of the hinge. However, that left some odd spacing at the ends of the hinge, but finally I decided to live with that, rather than have too much hiinge at the ends unfastened.

To accomplish this, I laid out the holes on a piece of scrap aluminum to act as a drill guide, as shown in the images below. I began to attach nutplates to the hstab side of the hinge, but early on ran out of proper sized rivets.
