After thinking about the matter for a while, I decided to extend the core extension started yesterday further inboard. What I decided to do differently was to use a 50/50 flox to micro mix, as the 100% flox epoxy is very heavy, and in retrospect not necessary for what I'm doing. Also, the flox mixture is extremely hard to sand to shape. So anyway, I extended the mixture to past the point where it is really needed, so that the spar will intersect the upper skin on a flat surface. I'll feel much better about this.
What I learned years ago is not to hesitate to step backward in the process. If it ain't right, it ain't right, so step back, go back a step or two, and start again until it really is right. These elevator halves are taking way more time than I ever thought, but quality simply can't be compromised for time.
