Today i separated the left elevator skins after the miro fitting. Also, I began to lay out the elevator trim tab servo inspection panel. Yet again, the manual is at least half worhless. The manual states that there is a skin only portion of the lower elevator skin that has no reinforcement, just to allow for the inspection panel. When laid out according to the manual, of course the location of the panel is right on nomex reinforcement. I laid it out anyway, but have not drilled any holes, etc.
Also today, I figured out that the capstrips cannot be fabricated as the manual suggests. The manual says to reinforce the capstrips with a layup between the ribs and the capstrip. That's fine, except when the distance between the lower skin and the capstrip tapers to nil. So what I decided to do was to form a flox strip adjacent to the ribs toward the trailing edge, so that bid reinforcing is not required. So I laid up a layer of flox adjacent to each rib, and again set the right elevator skin in place, and weighed down for cure.
