Brief Description:  Trimming left elevator TE

No pictures today, and limited time to work. But I did hear from Lancair, who confirmed that the cradle measurements are indeed the measurements to build from. So I went ahead and trimmed the trailing edges of the top and bottom skins of the left elevator. Next is to fabricate the left elevator ribs. When I fitted the right ribs fabricated this weekend to the left elevator, all but one were pretty close, so I'll use the close ones for patterns, and just build the other one from scratch.
As I contemplate bonding the ribs to the skin, and later building capstrips as per the manual, More problems with the manual emerge. The manual calls for the ribs to be bonded to the skin with strips of 2bid at least one inch on each surface. Problem is that most of the ribs are much less than one inch, and they taper towards the trailing edge to nothing. Obviously one inch on the ribs just isn't there in all parts. So, what's the answer? My guess is to lay as much layup as possible, given the limitations. I've searched theLancair listserve, and the ES builders forum, and it seems as if I'm either the first to encounter these problems, or everyone else just knows how to address the issues without whining.
