Brief Description:

I thought this weekend would be the closeout for the right elevator. Not to be, as I do not have the right Hysol. Maybe next weekend.

Nevertheless, I did make some progress on the left elevator. Started by cleaning all tape and glue residue from the top skin. After that I drilled screw holes in the leading edge and temporarily screwed the top and bottom skins together, then mounted the elevator to the hstab. Then I taped the trim servo in place as well as the hinge and inspection plate, all to give the left elevator as much of its final weight as I can approximate.

Then I carefully removed excess lead from the left weight casted a couple of weeks ago until wieh set in place it held the elevator down just a bit from exact balance. Before that, I had taped a short piece of plastic tube inside the elevator horn, which I'll use if necessary to hold additional weight upon final balance.

Finally today I bonded in the weight and tube as shown in image 3. The flox and bid will probably leave the elevator with too much weight, and I'll need to take out some lead before closeout, but that's ok.
