Brief Description:  Trim tab servo inspection panel

I needed to do some final fitting on the right elevator, at the inboard rib, as I wasn't quite happy with the fit after popping off the upper skin this morning. I'll take the skin off this evening, after about an eight hour cure to check it out.
Next I started laying out the elevator trim tab and inspection panel. The manual, as usual, contains bad information. It says that there is a portion of the lower skin where the inspection panel is to go that does not have core material. Well, that's just not correct. The entire area has core. Also, looking ahead, two more thin spars have to be set at the aft part of the elevator where the trim tab is cut out, and at the fore part of the trim tab. The manual says to do that after the elevator is closed, so that would prevent any reinforcement on the fore part of the elevator spar and the aft portion of the trim tab spar. I have seen one builder who put these spars before closing the elevator, so why not? But it will be a lot easier to make and reinforce if the core at the spar mounting line is removed, so I did that as well.
So the first picture below shows the layout for the inspection panel and the spar area core removal. After removing the core, the remaining impressions of the honeycomb leave a surface that is difficult to sand smooth, so I decided to fill the areas with removed core with micro. That should make setting the spars and the inspection panel mounting flange easier.
