Brief Description:

Tonight I tackled, with no small dose of dread, fabricating the rudder ribs. After my less than pleasant experience with the elevator ribs, and the fact that the plans were useless for the task, at least I didn't approach this job not knowing what to expect.

It came as no surprise that the rib plans do not result in ribs that actually fit. But this time I was ready, and making ribs that fit, while still not easy, was not the ordeal it was on the elevators. It about three hours to fabricate the four rudder ribs, not too bad. They do fit well, as proven by placing clay on top of the ribs and placing the left skin on top. Gaps as shown by the clay were uniform and less than 1/8 inch, easily within the range that can be filled with micro during the capstrip fabricating process. Next step is to bond in the ribs.
