Brief Description:

Without the rudder in place, I needed to find another way to set up the rudder control cables to the internal rudder mechanism. Shockingly, the internal rudder control supplement is silent about how to set up the rudder control cables from the cross over tubes to the internal control unit in the aft part of the fuselage. What I finally worked out was to clamp two of the rudder pedal tubes together, then claim the entire rudder pedal mechanism in the neutral position with long clamps. Then I placed two threaded rods into the internal rudder stops, and ran them up to the control arm, to fix the control arm in place. I marked the control arm from the internal rudder bellcrank to the rudder with marks in 1/4 inch intervals, to enable comparison to the rudder bulkhead from side to side. Using the threaded rod, I was able to set the internal rudder bellcrank to the neutral position, as were the rudder pedals.

Next, with both fore and aft control arms fixed, I just set the turnbuckles in approximately one-half threaded positon, and placed the rudder control cables in position, snugging up taught, and securing with copper Nicorpress sleeves. After that, just a couple of turns on the turnbuckes took up all slack left over from the swaging process.

After all that, I began working on the armrests.
