Brief Description:  Ailerons and flaps

Over the past three or four days, I've been rigging the ailerons and mounting the flaps. Flaps were relatively simple, except that I had to re-make the flap actuator rods, as my measurements from several years ago were about 1/2 inch too short. On top of that, I was unaware that there was an interference between the right actuator rod and the wing, so when I lowered the flaps using the flap motor, the right actuator hung up for a second, and bent the rod end. So now I have to make another rod. That's not a big deal, except for the time waiting on a new rod end. Yesterday I fitted the RAC flap position sensor to the flap torque tube. Sounds simple, but as usual, it took a couple of hours to get it right.

Aileron rigging is another story. Lots of skinned and bruised hands and wrists working in the small access holes. Note to self: If I ever do this again, make the holes bigger! There were a couple of bolts in the control rod/idler/bellcrank systems which demanded an unbelievable amount of time just to insert. I'm not through yet, but am getting pretty close.
