Yesterday and today, with help from my friend Lester and my wife Cathy, we attached the rudder and right elevator. The rudder was a pain due to its weight, all at the top, and the fact that the height requires working on a ladder. After getting it temporarily secured with two pilot bolts, I spent the next three hours getting the three permanent bolts in place. That required some sanding of the trailing edge of the VS to allow the rudder to move forward enough to fit the hinges. Today I secured the rudder bolts with nuts and washers. Also today, again with Cathy's help, I mounted the right elevator, and installed permanent bolts, washers and nuts. Finally today I spent quite a bit of time connecting and adjusting the rudder control rods. Tomorrow I'll fine tune the adjustment of those rods and secure them in place.
