Brief Description:  Cabin insulation

For the last several weeks I've been working every day to get the interior, including flight controls, oxygen system, baggage compartment, etc. as finished as possible before the panel arrives. The last few days have been spent on multiple tasks, but today's log is to document the front cabin insulation. I used the Super Soundproofing insulation. The time it took to make paper templates, then to cut out and place the foam insulation itself was quite surprising, though by now nothing should surprise me about how long tasks take. I put 3/4 inch foam on the floor under the floorboards, 1/2 inch on the walls forward of the control stick mounts, and 1/4 inch on the firewall. I wanted to use the thicker material on the firewall, but the 1/4 inch, which is really about 3/8 inch thick, worked much better. My main objective was to get a lot of insulation above the exhaust outlets, which are under the front floorboards. While not perfect, I'm satisfied with the results. The side panels will cover almost all of the insulation on the cabin walls where installed.
