Brief Description:

I've been working steadily lately, and this is a multi-day post. Not much progress to show, but I am making some. Mostly I've been working on the vertical stabilizer webs, and the forward web air vent flange. The webs are not particularly easy to fabricate, for when both halves of the VS are put in place, the webs of course are not visible. So I have to fit both webs to the individual sides one side at a time, then with careful indexing, fit to the other side. I did this first with 1/4 inch plywood, then finally with honeycomb. I'm pretty satisfied with the fit now, and will bond in the webs after mounting the right VS skin. After that I can fabricate and fit the VS ribs.
While fitting the left VS to the HS, I left a larger gap than I wanted. So I laid in a two bid bonding strip to the HS, applying it to the VS after placing release tape on the VS. Also, I continued this bonding strip around the leading edge of the HS, to continue filling gaps. The added benefit of this bonding strip is that because of the way the left half of the VS is closed, there is no structural bond on the inside of the left VS. Now there is, and I feel pretty good about that.
