Brief Description:

Big day today. I was able to help disassemble the engine, in preparation for overhaul. My main purpose in doing this was simply to learn more about my engine. Mission accomplished. Started by removing baffling, then to induction, fuel, and accessories. Eventually removed all cylinders, then pistons and finally splitting and removing the case. Big thanks to Sammy and John at Air Services in Carrollton, Georgia for letting me help, and by answering all my questions. Engine looked pretty good, with the exception of some surface rust on the cam and lifters, and worn out small rod bushings and wrist pins. Cylinders and valves look great, as does the crank. All parts and accessories that need overhaul will go out Monday, as will crank and cam. Lifters will need replacing, as well as pistons.
