Brief Description:

Battery box is well on its way to completion. More to do, but the basic box is done. So I trimmed it up a bit, and fitted to the 185 bulkhead. When I began that process, it became clear that I had to re-locate the master contactor and ground power contactor, so I did that, then temporarily mounted the box. It actually works quite well, and with as many as six layers of carbon fiber at the mounting points and corners, strength is good. It also is quite light, as might be expected. As strong as it might be, though, I'm not reallly confident just hanging 26 pounds of batteries on the bulkhead, without some vertical support under the box. So I decided to build a rib along the midpoint of the two batteries to support the box from the floor of the fuselage. Will add flanges next to spread load. I still have the hold-down bar to design and fabricate.
