Brief Description:

My next step is to complete the rudder cables. In addition to making up the five inch cable segments that attach to the rudder pedal arms, I have to make up the connections for the long cables to the internal rudder control mechanism at the aft of the fuselage. The manual contemplates doing this with the rudder in place, to make sure that it is centered. Well, that isn't happening any time soon. My plan is to make up the control rods from the internal bellcrank to the rudder control horn, and use them to center the bellcrank, by placing the equidistant from the rudder bulkhead. To do that, of course, I had to make up, partially, the control arms. I had forgotten what a pain that was, because the stainless steel material eats drill bits for breakfast. Finally, though, I did get that task done. Also today I trimmed yesterday's reinforcement of the tabs that help hold down the elevator torque tub cover. Doesn't sound like much to show for almost three hours.
