Brief Description:

With my friend Steve's help, we mounted the forward and aft spar box shear webs. This doesn't sound like much, but involved positioning, checking, the wings in relation to the fuselage a couple of dozen times, and making what seems like minute adjustments over an over again. One of the most difficult problems is lining up the shear webs and the spars so that the spar bolts can be inserted. That's four separate bushings per bolt, and any slight misalignment means that the bolt just wont go. The other complicating factor was the high 80's temperature. Schedules didn't allow the epoxy work in the cool of the morning, so the final bid was placed a bit after noon, and final checks and tweaks on the multiple alignment criterea were completed shortly thereafter. Epoxly really does cure quickly at 85 degrees. The hardest adjustment was wing incidence. It's supposed to be 2 degrees positive. We were able to get that to within .2 degrees of optimum, because the wings, when bolted together, were a bit off from each other, so optimum on one side would yield about .3 degrees off on the other side. I'm thinking that this is not much of a problem.
