Reinforced with 4 bid the 27.5 and 75 flap ribs, and potted in the 138 rib. Next on the ribs after reinforcing the 138 rib is to mount the hinges.
I learned a few days ago that there is a problem with the flap actuator arm doubler, which furnishes one side of the attachment of the flap control rod end. The problem is that if you attach the rod end, the doubler has to be deflected to line up with the inboard hinge. This of course just won't work, as it not only stresses the doubler, but misaligns the mounting holes. This is caused by an improperly, I believe, designed offset in the doubler. The cure I came up with was to fabricate a spacer between the doubler and the hinge, from .125 inch aluminum. After fabricating this spacer, the doubler/hinge/rod end fit together perfectly, with no deflection required. The other problem is that the manual called out the wrong part numbers, which if followed would have placed the rod end for the flap actuator precisely in the middle of the BL 27.5 wing rib, not condusive to actually working. One part number off.
