Brief Description:

The last three days I've been getting the final things done in preparation for closing the wing, which should happen this Sunday. I've long board sanded the flox on the main spar, so now it's true within about 1/16 of an inch overall, and ready to bond. I had to repair one rib, where it joined the main spar. For an unknown reason, I let the rib capstrip get way too thin about 1/2 inch forward of the spar. This was the 120 rib, which is the last rib forming the fuel bay. Anyway, the multi-step fix is done. I'll patch the area with tank sealer tomorrow.
This evening I checked the inboard corner of the fuel bay at the 25.5 rib, where it joins the main spar, for fit with play-doh. Skin still fits fine. I also put in the final bolts, washers and nuts for the aileron bellcrank and idler arm, then torqued and torque-sealed all.
The Hysol came in today, so I've got all supplies necessary for the closing. Also tonight I finished making the last of 55 sandbags. Sand is here, so I'll fill them Saturday. Together with the 19 bags of lead shot I already have, that will give me over 1000 pounds of weight, which should be plenty. Just in case, I cleaned up about 150 pounds of left-over brick. If I need more than that, I've got more problems than insufficient weight. Should not be a problem, as I've test fitted the skin about a hundred times now.
