A bit easier today. I decided that attempting to transition one continual piece of layup from horizontal to vertical is very dicey, so I decided to join the vertical and horizontal elements of reinforcement by overlapping two separate pieces. Also, I decided to let the layups cure for a few minutes to give them a bit more resistance to ply separation during the application process. Also, I decided to make my bid strips as near as reasonably possible to the finished width, and forget about mathematical precision on the width. In prior layups, if I needed a two inch strip, I would cut out about four inches, make the epoxy sandwich, and cut out the finished strip from the larger layup. That, I determined was a waste of time, cloth and epoxy. So the final applications now are not as pretty and uniform, but they are ultimately within specs.
