Brief Description:

Got the BL 75 rib 7 bid done today, as well as the BL 39 and 54 reinforcements. It was no small amount of frustration, because I tried to wrap the 3 bid reinforcement between tghe horizontal and the vertical faces, but the layers of glass shifted so much that I couldn't keep the plies together enough to feel comfortable, so those layups went into the trash. I finallly decided to separate the vertical from the horizontal, for ease of installation. I did overlap the layups, so structural integrity should be fine. Shorter reinforcements should still be amenable to one part layups. but not the longer ones.

What still amazes me about this construction is the strength of the final product. On the aft ribs that contain the flap hinges, there is about one quarter inch of layered fiberglass. That's enough to mount just about anything. Is this because of the inevitable variance in builder skill?
