This afternoon I made one last fitting of both elevator halves, checking them in relation the horizontal stabilizer. After that, it was time to fit the upper skins to the ribs and spar, using a bead of micro on the spar and all ribs except the inboard rib. That rib is made of twelve layers of bid, and the manual calls for flox. The purpose of the micro and the flox is to make the first layer of the mating surface between the skin and the capstrips. Assuming all goes well, tomorrow I'll fit the left elevator skin and pop off the right upper skin to inspect the micro bed, and trim it ot the spar and ribs, ready for the capstrips.
