Brief Description:  Remove from the jig and load into the truck!

Today is the last day of our 2-week Builder's Assist program at Lancair in Bend, OR. The program provided exactly what we needed to continue to build our airplane with confidence: knowledge of the process, nomenclature, layups, epoxy use, techniques, etc. Additionally, we are assured of a straight airplane having used the factory jigs and we don't have to make any jigs at home.

The only criticism I have is that some of the work was done by the build shop guys while we were working on something else without much input from us. These were just a few small items toward the end of the program as time grew short, like the canopy striker plates, which were installed in the wrong place according to the manual and will have to be redone back home in my hangar anyway.

All the hardware was removed from the canopy this morning and excess epoxy was removed by a light sanding all around the edges. Then it was time to remove my airplane from the jig, install it on the rotisserie and load it into the rental truck. The airplane fit perfectly into the truck when rotated to about 45 degrees. The rest of the airplane parts and supplies were carefully packed around it in the truck and I was off for one more night in the hotel before an early start and a long drive the next morning to SOCAL.
