Greg and I spent quite a bit of time installing the wing tips. Below is a summary of the activities: 1. Installed the FWD Skin - Tip 2. Installed the Upper Rear Skin - Tip KPWI0456 2 3, Installed the Closeout Skin - Tip - LH KThPWI0458-L 1 4. Installed the Lower Rear Skin - Tip 5. Installed Wing Tip - FWD - fiberglass part 6 Installed Wing Tip - AFT - fiberglass part 7. Installed wing tip navigation/strobe lights
While installing the wing tip plastic parts we worked the "stiffners". The rear plastic wing tip stiffners were pre-drilled but the holes did not match. It was not clear that the stiffners were to be placed on the lower side of the fibreglass. I inititally thought they were to stiffen the upper and lower rear skins. We decided to fabricate 6 inch stiffners from scrap aluminum, glued them to the inside surface of the fiberglass wing tips, and transfer drilled the holes to match those in the AFT upper and lower skins.
Installed the strobe/navigation lights by shortening the feed wires, The feed wires were secured on the last rib with adel clamps. Don't forget to add a photo of the completed tip.
I did have to order another forward left wing tip as it did not fit correctly. Need to add fiberglass wing tip photo
