Brief Description:  Flight Controls

Today, I first completed the Access Panel cover on the left door post. This is an area I wish I thought about earlier. I followed the plans and split the inside post skin, but then realized I ddidn't need such a large panel -- requiring many nutplates. So, I tirmmed a hole out of the middle, large enough to inspect and replace the pulley as necessary. Then, I fashioned a small cover to go over it. On the right side, I haven't yet split the skin, so just drilled the inspection hole. I'll add the nutplates to the right side at a later date.

Then I turned my attention to the slider assembly. First, I cleaned up the two ribs and then drilled several pilot holes through the ribs into the roof. I then went on top and drew lines between the pilots and added a series of rivet holes 1 1/4 inch spacing.

Next, I worked on the flat plate that holds the assebly together. I didn't have any .063, so made a temporary template out of .040 to enable me to work on the slider assembly. I'll remove/replace with the .063 when it arrives next week. I was able to accurately locate the slider assembly on the structure, and then spent some time installing the bearing, cleaning and priming etc. Now it is on hold until the thicker material arrives.
