Today, I worked to complete the long elevator torque tube and install it. Several problems, I had already installed them thinking the 3/16 inch holes on either end were the important consideration. However, the 5/16 inch hole halfway up one side of the horn is where you attach the torque tube. I had one installed with the hole on top and one on the bottom. So, I had to remove them, drill out the center bearing, reverse it and put it all back together. Next, I had clearance problems getting the bolt in the forward part of the torque tube. The tube fits between the two shear webs and I was finally able to get it installed. Finally, I was surprised at how little fore and aft movement there was, so I installed the two control sticks to see how much movement there was. To do that, I had to grind the powder coating off the bottom of the sticks for them to fit inside their repspective hold downs. It appears I have a little over 12 inches of fore/aft control stick movement. I'll know for sure once I install/rig the elevator later this month.
