Today, we worked to complete the spar caps on the vertical fin. We match drilled, then removed and trimmed to the appropriate curves per the plans. Cleaned, deburred, prep'd for priming and then reinstalled. We then reinstalled the horizontal stab. Earlier, despite all our efforts to align the fin and stab, they were a bit off. Today, after we had everything back in place and 100% cleco'd, they aligned perfectly -- go figure. Next, we tried to install the rudder to mark locations for cutting out clearance for the two rudder horns. I quickly learned I had not final reamed the hinges for the 1/4 inch bolts. Ugh! Access will be difficult but am going to sleep on it over night.
